MADURAI: In protest of attorney PK Muthukumar’s gruesome murder, members of the Thoothukudi Bar Association skipped court on Thursday (48). An armed gang killed the lawyer on Wednesday in Sorispuram, close to Thoothukudi Collectorate, during the day. Due of prior animosity, the violent murder took place close to a pawn business that the victim owns, according to a source. The Bar Association’s president, MA Joseph Senguttuvan, demanded the speedy arrest of the murderers. On Thursday, the Members presented the grieving family with an ex gratia gift of Rs 50, 000.
In the meantime, three guys turned themselves in on Thursday before the Fourth Magistrate Court in Madurai in connection with the lawyer’s murder. They have been identified as Ilangeswaran (30) of Nellai Perumbedu, Velmurugan (25) of Arumuganeri, Thoothukudi, and Rajarathinam (25) of Keela Kadayam. They were given a 15-day detention sentence by Judicial Magistrate R Bagyaraj.
