If the original offence is closed, why can’t the complaint be invalidated, High Court asks the Enforcement Directorate?
The Bombay High Court questioned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) about the impossibility of quashing a “Enforcement Case Information Report” (ECIR) if the initial offence upon which it is based has been resolved.
Naresh Goyal, the founder of Jet Airlines, and his wife Anita Goyal filed a petition asking for the dismissal of an alleged money laundering case against them that the ED had brought against them. The petition was being heard by a division bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Prithviraj Chavan.
