Meaning of Review, Revision and Appeal of Court Orders in India

In the legal system of India, appeals are available from a variety of court orders. Appeals can be made to either a higher or lower court in order to correct an error or to affirm a decision. Review, revision and appeal of court orders are three different types of appeals that can be pursued in India. Each type has its own specific set of requirements that must be met in order for an appeal to be successful.

Review appeals are used when an error was made during the original judgment or order being appealed. The reviewing court will look at the evidence and decide whether or not the original decision should be overturned. Revision appeals are used when the party appealing wants their case changed, amended or clarified. The reviewing court will usually give their opinion on how the case should be handled, but they do not have the power to overturn the original decision.
